Harrogate Beulah Street Precinct 1920
While we can tell you how good we are, it's sometimes better to have your praises sung, and the following extract was taken from Landmark Visitors Guide -Harrogate and Surrounding Area, by Malcolm Neesam :
"Opposite the top of Commercial Street, the Beulah Street precinct is marked by a pretty ornamental iron work arch,to the right of which, nearly opposite the Harrogate Theatre, are the attractive premises of a most important Harrogate institution : Yorkshire Farmers. Since it relocated here in 2008, Yorkshire Farmers has gone from strength to strength, probably because it is run by staff who not only have their fingers on the pulse of local demand, but also because their range of stock reflects the changing seasons.
Quite apart from the handsome and spacious interior, Yorkshire Farmers is famous for the quality of its meat. Here is no supermarket muck, stiffled to death in vile plastic tombs, suppurating in its own blood. Here, rather, is prime meat that has been properly butchered, appropriately hung, and served in a discerning manner to appreciative customers. The chalked display boards often provide information on the sources of stock."
Author Malcolm Neesam also adds "As Harrogate's historian, it always gives me pleasure to record such Harrogate success stories as Bettys, Farrahs, Fattorini, Ogdens, or Woods of Harrogate, and Yorkshire Farmers certainly belongs in this class because they share with those other businesses a wish to serve the best to their customers. Nor is a visit restricted, as even hardened Vegetarians can delight in Yorkshire Farmers range of chutneys, marinades and sauces. My own favourite is Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil, which I use on potatoes instead of butter."
We've also featured in and support SHOP&MUNCH, a great book that highlights some of Harrogate's terrific independents, that together give Harrogate its well known character.
